White coat ceremony

So lots of things have happened and we haven't really written anything for a while. Most notably, I had my White Coat Ceremony last Thursday night. It was pretty exciting. We got to bring guests, and had hor d'oeuvres before the ceremony started (yummy shrimp, fruit, crackers and cheese and desserts). It was kind of a little formal shindig. Our program's medical director and a community doctor spoke about the significance and symbolism of a white coat and the responsibility we have as medical providers. Then we stood up by our tutorial groups (groups that we practice skills in every week) and our clinical advisor put on our coats. It's exciting! We are finally taking our next step in our training.

Here's the video of me getting my coat. Jimmy Joe got it from the audience!

Pretty excited...!

My whole class.

My group again. Jeff in the middle is our Clinical Advisor. He is a PA on the faculty that is over our group, teaches us skills when we meet every week, and gives us feedback any assignments.

Jimmy Joe is 25!

Happy Birthday Jimmy Joe!! He turned 25 on Jan. 4 and we had a little party with his fam. I thought I'd put up some pics. I made him a German chocolate lion cake. He picked out the kind of cake he wanted and the shape. It was so good! It was my first time making German chocolate frosting from scratch and it was so much better than the store bought kind.

Two years

We have been married two years and 1 day now! We celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday. I can't believe it's already been two years. Time really does go fast. But, I am such a lucky girl. I have the best husband ever. I know many women say that, but really, for me he is perfect. I am so happy! I love you Jimmy Joe!

Snowshoeing

Last week we went snowshoeing! I love it. It's so fun and refreshing being in the mountain air. After some hesitation about where to go so that we wouldn't get buried by an avalanche, we found a trail in Little Cottonwood canyon-- Little Cottonwood Trail, in fact. It was perfect: not too steep, by a river, and so pretty! We hiked in, ate our snacks, and hiked back out. We had a great time.

A little disappointing

The first week and a half of my break was spent reading all 4 books in the Twilight series. I finally gave in and read them. I knew they were a guaranteed easy, fast, entertaining read, and that's just what I needed. I actually really liked them! They kind of suck you in and you can't stop reading--I loved it! Jimmy Joe wanted to know what all the buzz was about and read Twilight, isn't that great! lol. He liked it too- and, like me, he couldn't stop reading it either.

What was disappointing to us was the movie! I know I'm a little late on this and it's old news by now, but the movie was SO disappointing! Since we were all hyped up after reading Twilight, we indulged ourselves and saw the movie in the big theater (we're usually dollar movie patrons). We were so excited only to be let down by the cheesy/bad acting and no love. Where was the love in the movie?! That was our biggest peeve. And yet it could have been so good. I'm sure I'll watch it again though once it comes to the dollar theater. I'm such a sucker :).
